Loft by the Hill: A Dialogue with Materiality and Continuity.
This 450 sq. ft. architectural studio is designed as an extension of the upper-level workspace, Studio by the Hill.
Spread across two levels, the lower 300 sq. ft. space features a welcoming double-height lobby, a compact yet flexible meeting area that doubles as part-time workstations, a small pantry, and a toilet with a green marble partition that forms a subtle backdrop for the meeting area. The lofted 150 sq. ft. upper-level houses eight workstations, offering an efficient yet intimate workspace.
A key feature of the double-height lobby is the sculptural staircase leading to the loft. Its distinct composition creates an interesting visual element, appearing dynamic when viewed from different locations within the space. Beyond its functional role, it adds depth and character to the overall design.
The design focuses on maintaining continuity with Studio by the Hill, ensuring both spaces share a unified material and colour palette. The lime-putty-finished walls and flooring choices create a seamless transition, reinforcing a sense of familiarity and comfort for users working across both premises.
The breathable lime surfaces naturally regulate indoor temperatures, making the workspace more sustainable and comfortable.
More than just an office, this studio is an evolution of the existing workspace—designed to strengthen connections, foster creativity, and provide an environment that is both functional and inspiring. It stands as a testament to thoughtful materiality and spatial harmony.
