The Curves (Ishanya)
This apartment in Pune borrows the minimalistic style of décor to make for an inviting, cosy-looking home. In response to the existing structural geometry, curves act as the major highlight in several compositions in the house. A neutral colour palette, pastel tones and ample play of natural light add up to the overall design theme.
The entrance consists of a cane storage unit with metal panels acting as window shutters to the common area. As we enter the living area, monochromatic, sleek, customised solid wood furniture, enhanced further with an off-white fabric wall art, completes the neat look. Lime plastered walls fashion an eminent fusion with the Italian marble flooring. Refined curves, embedded carefully into the furniture and the spaces adds a sense of fluidity to the spaces, making every frame visually appealing.
The uncluttered dining setup, emboldened by a large conical lamp above it, makes the area seem spacious. The terrace area is done up in natural brick steps with a cane swing and serves as a natural relaxation alcove for the house.
A brass bed back stands out amongst the muted grey tones of the master bedroom space. Green plants placed in the window sill, adds a touch of livingness to the calm composition. The other master bed comprises a walk-in wardrobe done in teak wood. A standing brass lamp in the room complements the woodwork in the room appealingly, with its golden sheen.
The custom-made furniture, designed to meet the client’s expectations, is able to establish a controlled minimalist look. Strategically placed foliage around the house brings along freshness to the muted tones of the spaces. Use of cane-woven panels in addition to solid wood frames in the common areas extends a sense of maturity to the spaces.
