Canopy House – Interior

Surrounded by lush trees in a plotted neighbourhood of Pune, Canopy House is designed to blur the boundaries between indoor spaces and the landscape beyond.

Client Brief
A plush 4-bedroom home for a family of five spanning three generations, equipped with modern amenities. The house was envisioned with a distinct identity in the neighbourhood and interiors that reflect a clean, clutter-free, and minimalist mood.

Design Approach
A central green court on the north side becomes the heart of the home. Drawn inward, it organises all major spaces around it, encouraging constant visual and physical interaction between indoors and outdoors. At ground level, this shaded court acts as an activity zone, while upper floors overlook it, strengthening family connections.

Double-height living spaces with large north and east openings allow soft, diffused natural light throughout the day. Private rooms maintain garden views without compromising privacy. A multipurpose room on the second floor opens to terraces on the north and east, serving as a nature-connected retreat by day and a leisure zone for gatherings and movie nights by evening.

The front façade features bold cantilevered canopies projecting into the surrounding tree cover. These layered slabs, resting on basalt stone-clad walls, create dynamic compositions from different viewpoints.

Locally sourced natural materials and custom-designed furniture reinforce the home’s sustainable, timeless character.
